Is Kevin Love Unhappy with the Timberwolves?

Is Kevin Love’s time with the Timberwolves ticking away?

In a recent interview with Yahoo! Sports, Kevin Love went on the record to talk about the direction the Timberwolves were going and said many things in the direction of the Timberwolves organization such as:

“At this point, I’m not afraid to go on the record, being around these (USA) guys, they know the situation I’m in and how competitive I am. I want to win. All the players on the Timberwolves feel the same way as well. The coaching staff is awesome. They want to win and win now. Hopefully, we can make some stuff happen.”

“My patience is not high, would yours be, especially when I’m a big proponent of greatness surrounding itself with greatness? All these (Team USA) guys seem to have great players around them.”

“It’s tough seeing all these guys that are young and older who have all played in the playoffs. When they start talking about that, I have nothing to talk about. If I don’t make the playoffs next year, I don’t know what will happen,”

“If we don’t make the playoffs, I don’t know it’s going to be me or something, but our management needs to step up and make some moves,”

This is extremely shocking to hear since the TImberwolves have signed key players such as Brandon Roy and Chase Budinger. Also submitting an offer sheet to Nicholas Batum who has said he wants to have a chance to play for the team.

In Love’s defense he is playing the best basketball he’s ever played and is considered to be the best Power Forward in the game right now. To be that skilled and put up numbers like 26 points per game and 13.3 rebounds per game and still not make the playoffs is obviously not something to be happy about. Love wants to win and felt as if his opinion needed to be heard.

The way Love approached it though could have been more thought out. Calling out your organization rarely turns out positively. More recent example would be between the Orlando Magic and their superstar Dwight Howard

It will be interesting to see what TImberwolves General Manager, David Khan, does about this situation. The weeks up to the training camp will be huge for the Timberwolves organization whether they meet Love’s demands or trade him for a jackpot to another team.
